BANK INSURANCE & SECURITIES ASSOCIATION
LAUNCHES INDUSTRY AWARD TO RECOGNIZE
EXCEPTIONAL DIVERSITY PROGRAMS IN ORGANIZATIONS

(Chicago, IL) The Bank Insurance & Securities Association (BISA) is pleased to announce the launch of the BISA Diversity Award in recognition of an organization within the financial industry that demonstrates leadership, resourcefulness and results in driving diversity and inclusion with its business.

The BISA Diversity Award is the latest in a series of initiatives by BISA to support the association’s member firms to drive business results by attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent through awareness, education and community engagement.

“Focusing on diversity and inclusion is a strategic imperative for all organizations,” said Jacinda Norvell, BISA Diversity Committee Chair from SunTrust Investment Services. “Research has shown that those corporations that invest in diversity often gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. The BISA Diversity Award celebrates those organizations that understand the importance of investing in diversity practices.”

The BISA Diversity Award, to be distributed on an annual basis, also will help promote best practice sharing of effective diversity strategies and tactics that create an impact within the industry. And, the award will serve to encourage and promote active participation by senior management in diversity efforts across the industry.

BISA formed the BISA Diversity Committee in 2015 to cultivate conversations about diversity in response to recognizing changes in the financial services industry related to workforce demographics. The Diversity Committee focuses its efforts in areas such as: analyzing industry demographics, recruiting a diverse workforce, advocating best practices in diversity, and uncovering emerging diversity trends.

BISA will begin accepting nominations from member companies for the inaugural BISA Diversity Award in fall 2017 with the winner being announced at the BISA Annual Convention, March 6-9, 2018, in Hollywood, FL.
