BISA "GIVES BACK" TO THE INDUSTRY
In these challenging times, BISA recognizes the need, particularly now, to help its members and the wider industry, by making opportunities and programming as available as possible.
Special Offer: The Association will cover the cost of one hotel night for each registrant from member depository institutions. Registrants who are clients of BISA Leadership Third Party Marketing Firms (TPM's) will be credited for two nights. Finally, in order to allow more members of your management team to participate, BISA is waiving the registration fee for the second and subsequent registrants from member depository institutions. |

CONCURRENT WORKSHOPS
New format this year: BISA's Program Committee has developed a different kind of format to help participants drill down further and understand better how to leverage the practices and solutions to optimize their business. Attendees can choose between two "Workshops" depending upon the scope of their responsibilities and role within their financial institution. Both will have a common agenda, but look at topics and issues from two different perspectives. Advisors and managers across a variety of institutions will be catalysts for discussions around these topic. |
|
  |
Workshop "A" Moderators: Frank Consalo, President of Brokerage Services, Fulton Financial Services & Bob Cobb, President, Ultimate Bank Advisor |
Workshop "B" Moderators: Keith Pipes, Executive Vice President, Finance & Financial Services, Wescom Federal Credit Union & Tony Cole, CEO & President, Anthony Cole Training Group |
|
|
Rebuilding the Confidence Chain: First on the agenda the Workshops will take up the topic of reestablishing and strengthening the links in the "credibility chain." Branch managers are unsure about referring customers. Clients have lost confidence in the investment process. Advisors - the lightening rods for clients' investment worries - have gone into emotional overload, in some cases loosing confidence in their ability to deliver for clients. Managers are constantly being asked to do more with less, and many are deeply worried about when and where any part of their business process could break down.
The market has weakened on all the links in the confidence chain. But for many, this represents opportunity. The window to build the credibility of their 'brands' is open wider than at any time in decades.
Recruiting, Retention, and Creating the Best Environment for Advisor Productivity: With turmoil and change across the industry, there are many advisors looking for a more stable environment. While this represents a great opportunity for regional and community banks, it also comes with serious risks. This workshop will address recruiting advisors with good production levels, who will also fit with your institution's culture. It will also address the risk of losing your best advisors and how to guard against that.
Open Discussion: In addition to the above agenda items, each workshop will include discussion of participant driven topics as time permits. |

Workshop "C" Moderators: Tom Howe, President, Webster Financial and Bruce Snell, Senior Vice President, Carolina First Bank
Today's adversity provides opportunities for programs and advisors who understand that when others ‘lock up' there is an opportunity to differentiate your value proposition and grow. The catalysts for this workshop will be institutional and individual advisor case studies and experiences sharing what can really work in today's environment. For some it is basic blocking and tackling, for others it is thinking ‘ahead and around the corner' to show clients investment solutions that will protect and profit their clients going forward. Each successful institution and advisor has stories to share about what works. Participants should come prepared to share an idea of theirs that is working now — and go back with a multitude of ideas to select from and implement upon their return.
Workshop "D" Moderators: Dan Overbey, President & CEO, Colonial Brokerage, Inc. and
Ken Yarbrough, SVP, Director of Retirement Strategies, SunTrust Banks, Inc.
The workshop will kickoff with a presentation on the difference a process sales approach versus a product sales approach can make in serving the ‘retirement client.' From there the workshop will broaden the discussion to include sales at different point in a client's lifecycle. It will include how to grapple with the reality of bank customers with different investable asset levels, a variety of demographics and profitability profiles — and delivering the best solutions, both now and for the future, in a cost effective way. |
