Long term care (LTC) has long been among the most significant hazards older Americans face, bringing with it the potential to wipe out retirement savings or severely burden one’s family. Likewise, it regularly tops the list of retirement issues that concern many Americans. Yet, new challenges create even greater pressure on seniors today: rising costs of care make paying for high quality, professional care increasingly difficult, and the changing makeup of families, such as being smaller and more geographically dispersed, means there may be fewer familial resources to fall back on. At MassMutual, we operate for the benefit of our customers. Our business decisions are based on  a single guiding principle: to help people secure their future and protect the ones they love. We kept this principle in mind as we look to understand the issue of long term care and the important decisions our customers are facing as they address longevity and extended care decisions. 

MassMutual has commissioned a study to better understand how consumers view long term care and the financial and emotional aspects involved. The study was completed by Greenwald & Assoc. The MassMutual Long Term Care in America Study will help to understand the long term care (LTC) marketplace, the consumer need, as well as how to prepare for LTC discussions with clients.

The study reveals important information in three main categories:

I.                 Long Term Care in the U.S.

II.                Impact on the financial professional, their firm, and their clients

III.              The need for the LTC discussion with clients

 

Speakers:

Mathew Greenwald, President of Greenwald & Assoc, Inc, a market research firm, founded in 1985, that specializes in retirement, employee benefits and other financial services issues. He has a Ph.D. in sociology from Rutgers University.

Matthew DiGangi, Head of Strategic Distribution Partners, in the U.S. Insurance Group at MassMutual, he is responsible for driving the expansion of sales through strategic partnerships within the third party distribution channels.
